- 12 cabbage leaves
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup cooked rice
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Blanch cabbage leaves for 2-3 minutes until soft. Drain and set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, cooked rice, chopped onion, beaten egg, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix thoroughly.
- Place a portion of the meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf. Roll up, tucking in the ends, and secure with toothpicks.
- In a small bowl, mix tomato sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour a little of the sauce into the bottom of a baking dish.
- Arrange cabbage rolls in the dish and pour remaining sauce over the top.
- Cover with foil and bake in a preheated oven at 350Β°F (175Β°C) for about 1 hour.
Notes
- Remove toothpicks before serving.
- Can be frozen for later consumption.
