- 1 loaf Italian bread
- 2 teaspoons minced garlic
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- ½ teaspoon pepper
- 1 pound ribeye steak
- Black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
- 1 large yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
- 1 ½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup parmesan cheese
- Chopped parsley, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Slice Italian bread lengthwise into two halves and place on the baking sheet, cut side up.
- In a bowl, mix minced garlic, softened butter, salt, and pepper. Spread this mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread and set aside.
- Slice ribeye steak into thin strips and season with salt and pepper.
- In a skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and cook sliced onions until caramelized. Add green bell peppers (if using) and cook for additional 5 minutes. Transfer to a plate and cover to keep warm.
- In the same skillet, add ribeye slices and cook until done but not crisp. Shred the meat using spatulas.
- Divide the cooked ribeye evenly between both halves of the bread. Top with caramelized onions and peppers, if using. Sprinkle mozzarella and parmesan cheese over the toppings.
- Bake for 12-14 minutes or until cheese is golden brown and bubbly.
- Garnish with chopped parsley, slice, and serve.
